"Amending Virginia’s constitution is a vital part of shoring up our rights here at home and putting them firmly out of reach of partisan politics," said ACLU-VA Executive Director Mary Bauer.

"Today’s proposed rules don’t change the fact that gender-affirming care is still legal in the Commonwealth, but they do threaten hospitals that provide it," said ACLU-VA Senior Transgender Rights Attorney Wyatt Rolla.

“Neither speech, nor protest, nor identity are for sale. We urge the University of Virginia to reject the anti-civil rights agenda the Trump administration is trying to force upon its faculty and students,” said ACLU-VA Executive Director Mary Bauer.

“In the face of federal attacks on our civil rights and civil liberties, Virginians have the opportunity to elect leaders who will shore up our rights here at home,” said ACLU-VA Executive Director Mary Bauer.

“The Board of Health’s vote today to target transgender athletes isn’t just beyond the scope of its authority: it’s a misguided resuscitation of a proposal Virginia’s lawmakers already rejected three times," said ACLU-VA Senior Transgender Rights Attorney Wyatt Rolla

"By announcing today that they’ll maintain their existing policies, these school districts are proving once again that Virginians are committed to the rule of law – even if the Trump administration isn’t,” said ACLU-VA Executive Director Mary Bauer

"Virginia Commonwealth University Health’s decision to close its gender-affirming care clinic for patients under 19 is yet another blow that has nothing to do with health – and everything to do with politics."

“Transgender and nonbinary young people belong in every school in every community – including in Northern Virginia,” said ACLU of Virginia Senior Transgender Rights Attorney Wyatt Rolla.

“It's no surprise the judge ruled our case can move forward. Workplace discrimination against transgender people is against the law – no matter your religious beliefs,” said ACLU of Virginia Senior Transgender Rights Attorney Wyatt Rolla.
