The ACLU of Virginia provided a series of recommendations earlier this week to Gov. Ralph Northam on how to alleviate the negative impact COVID-19 will have on the ability of Virginians to participate in upcoming elections.

The ACLU of Virginia sent letters to correctional facilities and detention centers across the Commonwealth urging these agencies' leadership to implement without delay evidence-based and proactive plans for the prevention and management of COVID-19.

The ACLU of Virginia, as part of the Virginia Pretrial Justice Coalition, sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary and House Courts of Justice Committees to express our concerns surrounding Virginia's pretrial and bail practices and call for more transparency.
