Some Virginia lawmakers ignored, amended or voted against legislation that would make the biggest impact on reducing racial disparities in the criminal legal system. We will continue to work with lawmakers until our criminal legal system is just, fair and equitable for all Virginians. In this webinar, we will review changes to Virginia’s criminal law, such as increasing the felony larceny threshold and passing the “Fishback Bill” to allow people whose juries were not told about Virginia’s abolishment of parole another opportunity for release. We will also discuss what steps Virginia needs to take to reduce racial disparities in our criminal legal system.
