Today is a disappointing day for many in the Commonwealth, as the ERA lost its last chance for a floor vote in the Virginia House of Delegates this legislative session. Once again, the House refused to bring this important matter to a vote.
With this missed opportunity, Virginia continues to be on the wrong side of history and is holding back the nationwide effort to enshrine gender equality in the U.S. Constitution. If passed, the ERA would emphatically declare, once and for all, that discrimination on the basis of sex cannot be tolerated.
We will continue to stand with VA Ratify ERA and all the brave and fearless advocates who have fought for so long.
