On Saturday, August 13, 2016, the Northern Virginia Chapter of the ACLU co-sponsored with the Alexandria NAACP a Know Your Rights session at the Charles Houston Recreation Center in Alexandria, Va. Following recent tragic shootings by police followed by protests in cities nationwide, it is more important than ever to understand:

  • What your rights are if police approach you in your car, on the street, or in your home.
  • How to use the ACLU of Virginia’s free Mobile Justice Virginia app for iPhone and Android, which lets you record law enforcement and submit videos and incident reports automatically to the ACLU-VA.
  • What your rights are when participating in a peaceful protest.
