The Constitution guarantees the fundamental rights and civil liberties of every person in the United States, regardless of immigration status. The ACLU of Virginia is committed to ensuring that immigrants are not unfairly targeted by government programs or subject to public or private discrimination.
The ACLU of Virginia has worked to safeguard due process and equal protection of immigrants, including challenging laws that deny immigrants access to the courts, impose indefinite and mandatory detention, or discriminate on the basis of nationality or language access.
