Living with COVID-19 Behind Bars

The words below are from family members and loved ones of people who are incarcerated in Virginia, who reached out to us via our hotline covid19@acluva.org to report civil liberties and civil rights violations in prisons, jails, and all custodial facilities across the Commonwealth.

People who are incarcerated were not sentenced to die in custody because of COVID-19 and the lack of actions from Virginia leaders. They are rightly scared and deserve to be protected from this pandemic, just like everyone else. Please read and share these stories, then take action now by calling on Gov. Ralph Northam to use his clemency power to release people who do not pose a threat to others.
