Changes in Virginia’s Laws: Voting

Before new legislation was passed by the General Assembly in 2020, Virginia was one of the most difficult states in which to vote – second only to Mississippi. Now, many unnecessary barriers to the ballot box have been repealed and other limits on access will be changed to make it easier for all Virginia voters to participate in our democracy, especially voters from historically marginalized communities. We will review all the new changes to voting laws in Virginia, such as the new Election Day holiday, same-day voter registration, no-excuse absentee voting, voter ID, and more.
