ACLU of Virginia's requirements for official campus chapters:

Each group at a college or university in Virginia requesting that the ACLU of Virginia Board of Directors approve its status as a student Chapter must consist of at least seven students who are current, dues paying members of the ACLU.  Chapters must provide certification of the membership to the Board of Directors each year in order to maintain good standing.

Each Student Chapter in good standing shall be entitled to submit the name of a member of the Chapter to the Nominating Committee of the Board of Directorsto be considered for nomination to the Board.

Each Student Chapter may elect, from among its student members, a liaison to the Board of Directors, who may attend and participate as a guest member at Board meetings, but may not vote on any matter submitted to or considered by the Board.

The ACLU of Virginia staff will provide reasonable assistance to student chapters.
