In the Legislature Each year during the General Assembly session, the ACLU of Virginia works to support legislation that expands or protects our civil liberties and fights against bills that infringe on our freedoms. 2008 General Assembly Session 2008 General Assembly Crossover Report (pdf) Ten Thoughts on the 2008 General Assembly Session Complete Bill Listing for 2008 General Assembly Session 2008 Grassroots Lobbyist Action Alerts 2008 General Assembly At-a-Glance (pdf)
How the Grassroots Lobbying Program Works: During the legislative session (starting on January 9, 2008), grassroots lobbyists will receive timely legislative summaries listing the important bills that affect our civil liberties. Throughout the 60-day session, we will also send out *Action Alerts* on bills that need phone calls, emails and faxes generated immediately either supporting or opposing the legislation. The *Action Alerts* explain the issue, provide a summary of the bill, state the ACLU position and tell you which legislators and committee members need to be contacted. To help you navigate the legislative session successfully, below are links to the General Assembly website that allows you to track bills and gives you the contact information for the legislators. Take action, become a 2008 Grassroots Lobbyist!!
